Zambia and thrill seeking adventures are like a match made in heaven. When you think of things that go well together you think; red wine and cheese, salt and pepper, cookies and cream and Zambia and adventure. A Zambian safari is perhaps one of the greatest adventures an adrenaline junkie could seek.
Zambia is perhaps not as renowned for its safari parks or wildlife as its neighbours; Tanzania and Botswana don't let that put you off. Zambia's wilderness has remained relatively untouched and is largely regarded as Africa's best kept secret, being often referred to as the ‘real Africa'.
Another perfect combination in Zambia is Livingstone and the Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls are an awe inspiring beauty on the Zambezi River, bordering the beautiful Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is often referred to as ‘the greatest known curtain of falling water'. In order to fully appreciate the sheer magnitude of the falls, one must see it from a bird eye view. With micro light and fixed wing planes available, the pilot will take you along the beautiful upper Zambezi, and over the huge 2km rent in the earth. This breathtaking sight is one of the world's most splendid phenomena.
Within the parameters of Victoria Falls and Livingstone sits one of Zambia's most quaint safaris, the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park. The park sits on the upper Zambezi River, the park is a fairly small park in comparison to Zambia's other parks being just 66 square kilometres, however there are plans in the pipeline to extend the park. The park is wonderfully relaxing alongside the river, what could be more incredible than waking up to with the eclectic mixture of wildlife noises combined with the raging rapids of the Zambezi as it converges with the Victoria Falls. Despite being a relatively small National Park, the park has a fairly diverse array of wildlife and is home numerous antelope, zebra and giraffe, a variety of birds. Upon your stay at the park you may be lucky enough to spot an elephant crossing the Zambezi River.
Zambia is renowned throughout the world as Africa's capital for adventure and it's easy to see why. From white water rafting along the ranging rapids of the Zambezi River, to trying your hand at the world's highest gorge swing, to more tranquil canoe safaris and hikes, Zambia has it all and so much more for the adrenaline junkie.
Could you imagine a higher octane day than this? Your day beings by First embarking on a safari through the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park, where you will get up close and personal with the wild game and birdlife. During the afternoon you will then partake in an emotionally charged and heart pounding trip down the Zambezi rapids in a dingy. Then finish off the day with a plunge at the very edge of the Victoria Falls, taking in the panoramic view of god's playground.
A Zambian safari is a truly unique way to experience Zambia, I can think of no finer way to explore this understated country than by exploring its untamed and untouched wilderness.
